The Khalsa College Management passed a Resolution No.40 in its meeting held on 20.11.2007 to establish Khalsa University in its Campus in the holy city of Amritsar. Khalsa College Governing Council in its meeting held on 21.11.2007 endorsed the above said resolution (Resolution No. 21)

Submission of proposal to Government of Punjab to establish Khalsa University vide letter No.6907 dated 18.09.2010 and letter No 9318 dated 31.12.2010

Government of Punjab constituted the committee to examine the proposal of Khalsa University vide letter No.8/41/2008-4 Edu1/2666-72 dated 15.12.2010

The constituted committee visited Khalsa college Charitable Society on 21.12.2010 for the evaluation of the project report for the establishment of proposed Khalsa University.

Issuance of letter of intent by Punjab Government Memo No 8/41/2008-4Edu1/644 dated 05.03.2011 for the establishment of Khalsa University, Amritsar.

Compliance of letter of intent by Khalsa College Charitable Society Amritsar vide letter No. 1489 dated 09.03.2011 and depositing a demand draft of Rs.10 lac vide draft No. 201195 dated 07.03.2011 in favour of DPI colleges Punjab.

Depositing a demand draft of Rs.1 crore (Punjab and Sind Bank Demand draft No.673042 dated 22.03.2011) as a compliance of letter of intent.

No Objection Certificate by Guru Nanak Dev University (vide letter No. 420-R dated 09.03.2011) to start first year classes of undergraduate and post graduate courses.

KHALSA UNIVERSITY BILL – 2016 PASSED

The long cherished dream of the founders of Khalsa College Charitable Society (KCCS) also known as Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) was fulfilled with the passing of Khalsa University Bill-2016 on September 14, 2016 in the Punjab State assembly. The Bill was unanimously passed. The office bearers of the KCCS thanked state government for the setting up of the Khalsa University. The office bearers assured the government that the University will provide quality higher education and focus on research and professional courses to generate best human resources.

Khalsa University (KU) Chancellor S.S Satyajit Singh Majithia, Pro- Chancellor S. Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, Vice- Chancellor Dr. Gurmohan Walia and Registrar Dr. Jaswinder Singh Dhillon said the varsities were following the Ordinance issued by the office of the Governor. They said that the multi- faculty, professional Khalsa University will give boost to higher education and research in this border region in the state. The Vice -Chancellor of the University said that the admission to Ph.D programmes in almost all subjects including Agriculture, Engineering , Pharmacy, Nursing, Education , Physical Education, Languages, Sikh History, Law, Library Sciences, Medical Lab Technology and Journalism has already been completed .
