Dr. Gursharan Singh

Dr. Gursharan Singh joined as Dean, College of Agricultural Sciences in the Khalsa University in October, 2016. Dr. Singh has a wide experience of administration in Agricultural Education. Earlier, he served as Dean of Postgraduate Studies, Coordinator of Postgraduate Studies, and Professor of Entomology at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana. He had been instrumental and a guiding force to initiate several new initiatives in agricultural education to cater the national and international needs of human resource development in agriculture.

Dr. Singh is a widely traveled person and has enriched his experiences by availing various opportunities in the area of education. He has the distinction of having availed the Fulbright-Nehru International Education Administrators Fellowship apart from acting as Team Leader of the Trilateral programme (USA-India-Kenya) funded by USAID/USDA for strengthening agricultural education in Kenya. Besides, he represented India in an international workshop on education organised by the Asian Productivity Organization, Japan. He was nominated as Regional Coordinator for India and South Asia by the Organizers of 5th International Bemisia Workshop, held in China. He also visited Australia and Pakistan for delivering scientific talks.

He has a passion and commitment for education and has envisioned to generate human resource in agriculture that would prefer to start their own enterprises rather than hankering after the jobs. For this, creating such facilities at the Khalsa University will be his main thrust apart from preparing students for higher academic pursuits with national and international exposure.
